Nature of the Role
Wintermute is seeking a lawyer to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will bring experience from traditional financial markets and be adaptable to the entrepreneurial, diverse, and rapidly evolving nature of our business. A drive to tackle cutting-edge challenges specific to the cryptocurrency industry and adeptness at navigating regulatory uncertainties across global markets are crucial.
This role entails jurisdictional coverage in the UK and Singapore, encompassing all products and relevant areas of law with emphasis on commercial and regulatory aspects. As part of this position, you will closely collaborate with the legal team, as well as with stakeholders within the organization such as traders, business development, product, and operations teams. Additionally, you will contribute to projects with senior leadership members, including the COO and CEO.
Responsibilities:
- Lead legal-commercial negotiations, including drafting and negotiating various agreements related to our business lines
- Conduct regulatory research and offer compliance guidance, monitoring legal and regulatory landscapes across jurisdictions
- Manage corporate structure and governance across multiple entities and jurisdictions
- Assist in resolution of commercial disputes efficiently while safeguarding the Company's interests
- Oversee external counsel as needed, manage legal spend, and review legal bills
- Collaborate with the General Counsel and Deputy GC on financial regulatory compliance under relevant regimes
Hard Skills Requirements:
- 2-5 years of legal experience in a top-tier law firm or as in-house counsel specializing in financial services, fintech, and/or crypto
- Proficiency in commercial law pertaining to financial services, including financial services contracts, derivatives documentation, and trading agreements
- Knowledge of regulations in jurisdictions such as the UK, Singapore, the USA, and/or EU, with a general understanding of regulations in other regions
- Experience or understanding of the crypto industry, specifically related to different types of tokens, DAOs, blockchain foundations, and decentralized organizations
- Curiosity and aptitude for learning new legal and business areas quickly
- Interest in algorithmic trading and decentralized finance
- Detail-oriented with a client-centric approach to problem-solving
- Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite, CRM systems, and Contract Lifecycle Management tools
