Member of Technical Staff, Reporting & Statements (Data Engineer)
At Anchorage Digital, we are working on developing a cutting-edge digital asset platform tailored for institutional participation in the cryptocurrency market.
Established in 2017, Anchorage Digital is a compliant cryptocurrency platform that offers institutions comprehensive financial services and infrastructure solutions. Featuring the first federally chartered cryptocurrency bank in the U.S., Anchorage Digital provides institutions with secure custody, regulatory compliance, a wide range of products, and exceptional client service. We are looking to expand our team with individuals who are modest, innovative, and eager to grow professionally.
We are a globally distributed team that is welcoming of remote work, with the option for in-office collaboration available in New York City, Sioux Falls, Porto, Lisbon, and Singapore. Although our team is spread out, we promote and fund quarterly in-person collaboration days to enhance teamwork and foster a stronger sense of community.
Join us as a foundational engineer on our Reporting & Statements team. In this role, you will be tasked with designing the systems that power all our financial reports and statements - ranging from monthly reports to daily statements and custom client requests. We are establishing automated frameworks to ensure the precision and consistency of every numerical data we deliver to our clients.
To aid Villagers in better measuring their impact and effectively articulating coaching and feedback, we have devised the Factors of Growth & Impact framework. It highlights the richness of learning experiences in mastering various capabilities and contributions within and beyond the Asset Data role.
Technical Skills:
- Revamp our architecture from decentralized reporting scripts to a centralized, framework-driven delivery system.
- Construct automated validation and reconciliation processes to facilitate scalability without the need for increased manual oversight.
Complexity and Impact of Work:
- Devise data models that serve as a reliable, unified source of truth for downstream product teams and external APIs.
- Navigate intricacies across various product data streams and apply consistent logic to all financial statements.
Organizational Knowledge:
- Collaborate with Product and Foundations teams to streamline the capturing and representation of financial data.
- Develop self-service frameworks enabling other teams to incorporate new report types through configuration rather than code.
Communication and Influence:
- Engage with product stakeholders to anticipate scaling requirements for client-facing data.
- Support the development of our engineering culture by championing and exemplifying "Data as a Product" principles and high-quality engineering standards.
You may be a suitable candidate for this role if you:
- Have more than 7 years of experience in building data systems, including creating internal tools, frameworks, or engines capable of handling significant scale.
- Possess experience in the financial sector, such as fintech or banking, where precision in numbers is crucial.
- Demonstrate systems thinking by considering future product scalability and valuing extensible systems over one-off pipelines.
- Have a solid technical grounding, with proficiency in Python (Pandas/Polars/Arrow) and SQL, along with experience in BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouses and modern orchestration tools like Airflow or Dagster.
Bonus points if:
- You have previous experience as a financial or business analyst, providing you with the insight to design practical data models.
- Performance optimization is important to you, enjoying improving data efficiency through methods like ADBC, multiprocessing, vectorized operations, or other optimization techniques.
