Product Design Lead - Design Systems

We are seeking a talented individual to fulfill the role of Product Design Lead. This position entails taking ownership and advancing our design system, the backbone of our product experiences. In this role, you will have the chance to:

• Influence the design language that will reach millions of users through our product suite
• Establish and oversee a specialized team dedicated to producing scalable, accessible, and innovative design solutions
• Spearhead the advancement of our design system architecture as we expand our product offerings
• Collaborate with leadership to define and execute design strategies that align with our business goals
• Promote design excellence and consistency across all our product interfaces
• Provide guidance to a team of 2 to 3 visual and product designers

Responsibilities:

• Design System Leadership:

• Define the strategic vision and roadmap for our design system to ensure it accommodates our growing product requirements

• Oversee the development and upkeep of our component library, design tokens, and documentation

• Establish operational models and procedures for the adoption and contribution to the design system

• Cross-Functional Excellence:

• Collaborate with engineering leads to guarantee smooth integration of design system components

• Organize workshops and design evaluations to align teams on design principles and implementation

• Work closely with product teams to understand their needs and integrate feedback into the system

• Team Development:

• Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous enhancement

• Lead design reviews and provide constructive feedback to elevate design standards

• Technical Implementation:

• Partner with developers to ensure the technical feasibility of design solutions

• Contribute to technical documentation and implementation guidelines

• Initiate discussions concerning component architecture and design patterns

Requirements:

• Minimum of 7 years of product design experience, with at least 3 years specializing in design systems
• Demonstrated ability to establish and enlarge design systems for intricate products
• Strong portfolio showcasing systematic thinking and component-based design
• Hands-on experience in leading and mentoring design teams
• Exceptional proficiency in Figma and prototyping techniques
• Profound understanding of front-end development principles
• Comprehensive knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices
• Exposure to user research and data-driven decision-making
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills
• Proficient in developing and managing component libraries
• Background in design tokens and systematic visual design approaches
• Competent in version control systems
• Familiarity with contemporary front-end frameworks and their impact on design systems
• Strong facilitation and workshop leadership capabilities
• Experience in managing relationships with stakeholders across various disciplines
• Proven ability to influence product strategy through design thinking
