SAR Analyst
Role Overview:
The role of the SAR Analyst entails reviewing and addressing transaction monitoring alerts, conducting thorough investigations on complex cases, and aiding in the reporting of suspicious transactions. Responsibilities include analyzing customer activities, transactional patterns, and available information to detect potential suspicious behavior and ensure timely reporting to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU). Close collaboration with Compliance, Investigations, Legal, and other internal teams is crucial to ensuring compliance with AML/CFT requirements, internal policies, and regulatory standards.
- Review and address transaction monitoring alerts associated with customer activities.
- Conduct detailed analyses on complex AML/CFT cases, including reviewing transaction trends, customer profiles, source of funds, and related risk factors.
- Identify potentially suspicious activities and outline clear justifications for escalation or closure in case narratives.
- Assist in the process of filing SAR/STR by preparing case summaries, supporting documents, and activities related to submission.
- Participate in FIU activities such as STR filing, RFI support, monthly reporting, and maintaining registers and records.
- Utilize the FINnet portal for FIU submissions, reporting, and other regulatory interactions as necessary.
- Ensure timely completion of investigations in accordance with internal quality standards and specified timelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation of investigative processes, findings, decisions, and reasons for escalation.
- Support ongoing enhancements in transaction monitoring, STR reporting, FIU submissions, and regulatory compliance procedures.
Job Requirement:
- Holds a Bachelor's degree in a Business, Legal, or related field, or possesses equivalent practical experience.
- Brings at least 5 years of experience in investigations, including SAR filing, or related audit/regulatory background in a financial institution or fintech firm.
- Previous involvement in AML transaction monitoring, SAR/STR investigations, financial crime compliance, or FIU reporting.
- Preferred hands-on experience with the FINnet portal.
- Familiarity with crypto/VDA transactions, blockchain analytics, or the crypto regulatory landscape is advantageous.
- Demonstrates strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Capable of working independently, managing multiple cases, and meeting defined timelines.
- Adaptable to ambiguity in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
- Exhibits excellent attention to detail with action-oriented and high standards-seeking attributes.
