In this role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for spearheading the creation of automated testing frameworks, enhancing testing infrastructure, and elevating quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle. This position requires direct involvement in software engineering activities rather than conventional quality assurance duties. Collaboration with various teams such as software engineers, researchers, traders, and operations is key to understanding system complexities and implementing effective automated testing solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and take charge of automated test frameworks for backend services, APIs, and user-facing applications.
- Enhance automated functional, integration, and performance testing capabilities.
- Collaborate with different teams to define quality standards and requirements.
- Identify gaps in existing test coverage and drive enhancements in the development process.
- Advocate a proactive testing approach to detect issues early in development.
- Participate in discussions on architecture and system design to optimize testability.
- Ensure system correctness, reliability, and performance under high-throughput and low-latency scenarios.
- Create testing tools and infrastructure rather than just writing or executing test cases.
- Contribute to setting engineering standards and best practices related to automated testing.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in QA automation, SDET, or software test engineering.
- Demonstrated expertise in building automation frameworks from scratch.
- Proficiency in at least one of Python, TypeScript, Go, or C++.
- Experience utilizing programming languages for test framework development and tooling.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and automation architecture.
- Familiarity with integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Previous exposure to trading, fintech, or financial technology sectors, ideally involving complex data-intensive systems.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and research teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Playwright, Pytest, or similar modern automation frameworks.
- Experience in performance and load testing utilizing tools like k6 or Locust.
- Background in systematic trading, quantitative finance, or crypto/Web3.
- Knowledge of applying AI/LLMs to software testing and related areas.
- Working knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
- Previous experience in testing data warehouses, data lakes, or streaming/data pipelines.
- Understanding of observability and monitoring platforms such as Datadog or Grafana.
