Staff Software Engineer (Distributed Systems)

Responsibilities

As a Staff Software Engineer specializing in Node Services at Alchemy, you will concentrate on developing a robust distributed system that serves billions of users in the Web3 ecosystem. This role presents an exciting opportunity to tackle complex engineering challenges, engage with cryptocurrency technologies, and directly influence our customers’ experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the definition of backend infrastructure vision for the team's product pillar and guide the team in executing that vision
• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure, APIs, and services
• Drive system design discussions, stand-up meetings, and code reviews
• Establish and enforce best practices for backend infrastructure emphasizing high performance and reliability
• Troubleshoot production issues spanning multiple service layers in the system
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to establish team priorities, define the roadmap, and align on strategic initiatives

Qualifications

• Possess a minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience
• Hold a degree in Computer Science or related field
• Demonstrated expertise in designing, developing, and scaling backend software components, specifically API platforms
• Ability to resolve intricate design, scaling, latency, or performance challenges in high-throughput, low-latency production systems
• Hands-on experience with languages like Java, Golang, C++, or equivalent
• Proficiency in Cloud Native environments, particularly AWS
• Familiarity with managed Kubernetes environments such as AWS EKS is advantageous
• Exhibit a proactive work attitude with a track record of executing new ideas independently
• Skillful in navigating the trade-off between perfection and timely delivery
• Bonus points for founding a company, engaging in side projects, or having startup experience

The annual salary for this position falls within the range of $135,000 to $350,000 based on relevant experience, skill sets, qualifications, and business requirements. Note that this range pertains solely to the base salary component and excludes bonuses, equity holdings, and benefits. Your specific salary will be influenced by various factors aligned with business needs.
