AI / LLM Backend Engineer — Technical Evaluation Stage
We are building an AI-powered mobile product and are currently moving into the technical evaluation stage for an AI/LLM Backend Engineer.
The role focuses on building a reliable backend integration layer between an existing application/backend and external LLM providers.
Relevant areas include:
- Python / FastAPI backend development
- LLM API integration and provider abstraction
- Structured outputs and schema validation
- Tool / function calling
- Server-side authorization and validation
- Conversation state and memory
- Retry, timeout and fallback strategies
- Idempotency and reliable handling of state-changing operations
- Usage and cost controls
- Logging, observability and testing
- Docker and production deployment
The selected engineer will work alongside our existing developer rather than replacing the current backend or mobile development team.

The initial candidate selection has already been completed.
We are publishing this listing primarily to continue the technical evaluation process with engineers who were already selected in the previous hiring round.

Stage 1 is a small standardized paid technical evaluation. All selected candidates receive the same task, requirements and evaluation criteria.
Successful candidates may proceed to a more advanced second evaluation stage, after which one engineer will be selected for the initial production integration milestone.
Important: New applications may be considered for future openings, but the current Stage 1 evaluation group is already being finalized.
