Responsibilities and Duties
Circle is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Director to join their Financial Partnerships team. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of identifying, negotiating, closing, and delivering complex deals with banks and payment companies. They should possess comprehensive knowledge of the financial services landscape, particularly within the payments sector, and a strong interest in digital assets. Building and nurturing meaningful relationships with key stakeholders is a key aspect of this role.
You will be responsible for:
- Identifying and assessing potential banking and payments partners for Circle's products and services
- Establishing and cultivating relationships with external stakeholders including regulators, financial institutions, and industry participants
- Collaborating with Circle's product and business teams to tailor offerings to the needs of partners in emerging markets
- Leading negotiations and structuring deals with potential partners
- Conducting financial modeling and creating forecasts for prospective partnerships
- Providing market intelligence and feedback to Circle's leadership team to inform product and business strategy
- Developing partnership strategies to drive adoption of Circle's existing products and validate beta products
- Validating market assumptions, developing go-to-market plans, and securing deals with leading ecosystem businesses in collaboration with the product team

Qualifications
Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:
- 10+ years of business development experience in the payments sector within the financial services industry
- Strong understanding of the financial services landscape, including regulatory frameworks, industry trends, and market dynamics
- Familiarity with the fintech and cryptocurrency industries, including key players, products, and trends
- Cross-cultural competence and the ability to work effectively across different cultures and geographies
- Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and successfully negotiating partnerships
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong proficiency in English, both written and verbal. Additional language skills are a plus
- FINRA Series 7, 63, or other regional securities licensing is highly desirable
- Willingness to travel for work (approximately 25%, depending on the time of year)

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to synthesize complex information related to prospective deals effectively
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently and manage projects effectively
- Experience with financial modeling and developing projections for potential partnership opportunities
- Strategic thinking and the ability to develop and execute business development plans
- Ability to create and deliver tailored presentations to different audiences with varying levels of expertise
- Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams such as product, marketing, compliance, and legal to ensure successful execution of business development initiatives.
