We operate as a global team that is also remote-friendly while providing the flexibility of working in-office at our locations in New York City, Sioux Falls, Porto, Lisbon, and Singapore. Coordinates outside our office locations are encouraged to engage in quarterly in-person collaborative sessions to strengthen our teamwork.
The primary responsibility of an Engineering Lead is to facilitate the growth and success of the engineering team. In this role, you will participate in recruiting top-tier Engineers to reinforce team expansion, mentor and collaborate with team members to support their career advancements, and establish processes that enhance the productivity and performance of an agile engineering team. The essence of this role is to foster an environment where team members feel motivated, challenged, and dedicated to achieving company objectives.
Technical Skills:
- Streamline the engineering roadmap, instigate operational efficiency, and formulate a technology strategy for the team.
- Display your expertise and discretion in resolving intricate and unclear challenges to deliver scalable solutions.
- Prioritize the well-being, satisfaction, and personal/professional growth of each team member.
Complexity and Impact of Work:
- Lead a team of Engineers, ensuring quality execution, punctual delivery, impactful contributions, and advancements.
- Serve as a mentor and counselor, offering guidance and feedback to elevate the skills of all team members.
Organizational Knowledge:
- Hold accountability for the excellence of execution, timeliness of deliverables, processes, impact, and personal/professional enhancement within a specific team.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers to define product investments, ensuring alignment between our product strategies, team bandwidth, technical landscape feasibility, and your plans for team advancement and structure.
Communication and Influence:
- Engage with other engineering managers, product management, recruiting, and the broader engineering team to drive team growth, retention, and future hiring endeavors.
- Positively influence the outcomes of the projects we undertake and the individuals responsible for the project success, including growth plans, recruitment, and performance management of the team.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in managing, mentoring, and developing geographically dispersed teams.
- Hands-on experience in developing complex distributed systems; familiarity with Go language is preferred, but adaptability to other languages is welcomed as well.
- Enthusiasm for building services from inception and nurturing them over the long term.
- A keen appreciation for code efficiency and robust test infrastructure.
- Preference for enhancing end-user experiences and delivering business value over adopting the latest technologies.
- Proficiency in computer science fundamentals like concurrency, algorithms, and data structures, with or without a formal CS degree.
- Personal traits matching some of the following criteria: creative, humble, ambitious, detail-oriented, hardworking, trustworthy, eager to learn, methodical, action-oriented, and tenacious.
Additional Qualifications (Bonus Points for):
- Experience with applied cryptography.
- Familiarity with blockchain protocol white papers and trends in cryptocurrency innovations.
- Background in the finance industry.
- Proficiency in Go, Rust, TypeScript, Solidity, or other relevant programming languages.
- Understanding of optimistic and zero-knowledge technologies.
