The role of an Engineering Lead at Anchorage Digital is centered around fostering the growth and wellbeing of the engineering organization. As an Engineering Manager, the responsibilities include assisting in recruiting top-tier Engineers to bolster the team, guiding and collaborating with team members to help them achieve their career objectives, and instituting processes that support a high-performance engineering team. Technical Skills:
- Develop engineering roadmap, enhance operational efficiency, and craft technology strategy for the team.
- Demonstrate expertise in solving complex, ambiguous challenges and delivering scalable solutions.
- Prioritize the wellbeing, satisfaction, and personal/professional advancement of each team member.
Complexity and Impact of Work:
- Lead a team of Engineers and hold accountability for their work quality, timely deliveries, impact, and professional development.
- Act as a mentor and advisor, offering coaching and feedback that elevates the entire team.
Organizational Knowledge:
- Take charge of the team's quality of execution, timely deliveries, processes, impact, and personal as well as professional growth.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers to allocate resources efficiently for product development, ensuring alignment between product plans, team capacity, technical landscape, and team growth and structure plans.
Communication and Influence:
- Collaborate with other engineering managers, product management, HR/recruiting, and the engineering team to drive team progress, retention, and hiring strategies.
- Play a significant role not only in determining what Anchorage Digital builds but also in selecting the team that builds it, overseeing growth planning, recruiting, and performance management for the team.
Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience in managing, mentoring, and fostering growth within a geographically dispersed team.
- Hands-on experience in constructing complex distributed systems. Proficiency in Go is preferred, but a willingness to learn languages is valued over specific technical expertise.
- Enjoy developing services from inception and supporting them long-term.
- Place high importance on code quality, testing infrastructure, end-user experience, and business impact over mere technological novelty.
Bonus Experience (Not Mandatory):
- Familiarity with applied cryptography.
- Interest in cryptography beyond cryptocurrencies.
- Exposure to reading blockchain white papers and staying abreast of cryptoasset advancements.
- Background in the finance industry.
- Professional experience with Go, Rust, TypeScript, or Solidity.
- Understanding of optimistic and zero-knowledge technologies.

- Anchorage Digital offers a competitive compensation package driven by market standards and data insights. This includes a market-leading salary, equity stake, and comprehensive perks and benefits.
- Compensation Range: $162,040 - $275,000, potentially varying by location and job seniority, with final compensation to be determined during the interview process based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
