BitGo is currently seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join its Prime team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in developing resilient and robust services, tackling critical projects independently or with minimal supervision.

This position is based in Downtown Toronto.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build, lead, and nurture a team of skilled and impactful engineers, offering cultural, technical, and hands-on guidance
  • Expand the team and actively contribute to shaping a culture of open communication, quality craftsmanship, and accountability
  • Take direct ownership of ensuring the team's work meets high standards in terms of quality and timeliness
  • Oversee all technology and services empowering BitGo Prime, encompassing trading, lending, settlement, and related aspects
  • Act as a positive liaison between engineering teams and other departments like product operations, support, compliance, and business stakeholders
  • Assume responsibility for key performance indicators (KPIs) relating to operational efficiency, client experience enhancements, and service uptime
  • Encourage comprehensive documentation and knowledge sharing within the team
  • Collaborate closely with management and product teams to strategize, estimate, and prioritize roadmap objectives
  • Align team goals with broader company objectives and client expectations

Essential Skills & Experience:

Required:

  • Substantial managerial experience within an engineering department, preferably in roles overseeing digital wallets, clearing and settlement, lending, trading, or accounting systems
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity leading engineering teams
  • Strong inclination towards automation and implementing tools to streamline workflows
  • Proficient debugging skills and the ability to comprehend complex systems interdependencies
  • Demonstrated track record in recruiting and hiring top-notch engineering talent
  • Experience collaborating within cross-functional teams to support departmental objectives
  • Self-motivated with the ability to adapt quickly and make decisive judgments
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in NodeJS, TypeScript, Go, Postgres, React, and Kafka
  • Experience with microservices and service-oriented architectures
  • Background in developing large-scale, real-time, and distributed applications
  • Knowledge of Containers and Kubernetes
  • Understanding of and experience in working within the financial industry

Pay Transparency Note:

Based on your level and location, the compensation for this role typically ranges between $235,000 - $285,000 CAD as a base salary. Equity and an annual performance bonus are also included in the comprehensive compensation package for this role.
