German & French Localisation Manager (Contractor)

Significant emphasis is placed on the search for a bilingual professional strong in Localization (German & French) to bolster our multilingual content processes on various platforms like web, app, and marketing channels. As a member of an esteemed editorial and growth team, you will leverage an internal AI model for creating initial transcreations and then proceed with refining, subediting, publishing, and ensuring that all outcomes adhere to our brand and regulatory expectations. This position bridges AI-supported localization, transcreation, editorial subediting, CMS publishing, and project management, making it an excellent match for individuals who excel at blending language accuracy, creative subtlety, and operational effectiveness.

Contract Role: 2-3 days weekly

Key Responsibilities:

Transcreation & Localization

• Adapt and transcreate English marketing and product content into natural-sounding German and French with cultural authenticity.
• Review, enhance, and quality check translations from internal AI systems or external linguists to ensure precision and consistency.
• Transcreate content into additional key languages for internal reviewers to subedit.
• Ensure alignment of all localized materials (in German and French) with brand voice, terminology, and style guidelines.
• Manage end-to-end localization workflows and publish localized content via the CMS.

Cultural & Market Relevance

• Customize and adapt creative concepts to suit local cultural nuances and consumer expectations.
• Offer insights and direction to global editorial and growth teams regarding market-specific inclinations and sensitivities.
• Serve as a language and culture liaison for the DACH and French markets.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Collaborate with Compliance and Legal departments to ensure compliance with local regulations and accurate adaptation of disclaimers.
• Keep abreast of regional compliance prerequisites.
• Scrutinize marketing copy, campaigns, and customer communications for accuracy, tone, and adherence to compliance standards.

Project Management

• Supervise localization timelines and deliverables for various content streams.
• Coordinate with editors, designers, and marketing heads to maintain seamless publishing workflows.
• Monitor localization metrics and suggest enhancements to processes or AI models.

Requirements:

• Proficient in native-level German and French with fluent English.
• Prior experience in localization, transcreation, or editorial roles, preferably in the finance or regulated sectors.
• Sound editorial judgment, combining precision with creative finesse.
• Familiarity with CMS tools.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
• Comfortable utilizing AI-backed translation tools.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and communication.
