Responsibilities:
Circle is currently seeking a highly experienced Head of Ethics who will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and operation of our ethics program. In this role, you will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to establish and propel ethics and compliance goals, prioritize activities, and ensure Circle's compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies. Education and awareness initiatives will be vital to foster a strong culture of ethics and compliance throughout the company.
The Head of Ethics will provide oversight for the effective implementation and execution of controls to manage risks appropriately. The ideal candidate will possess substantial expertise in designing and executing ethics and compliance programs with a focus on achieving desirable outcomes.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, lead, and manage a world-class global ethics function, including ownership and management of associated internal policies, controls, workflows, and relationships.
- Proactively identify and mitigate ethics and compliance risks.
- Provide guidance and advice on policy inquiries to employees, including senior and executive management.
- Drive program objectives, key results, milestones, metrics, and reporting to continually enhance and scale the ethics program.
- Regularly assess policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Design and implement company-wide training on ethics and foster compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Support internal investigations when required.

Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in ethics, compliance, legal, risk management, or audit functions within a financial institution.
- Experienced in building and reinforcing a strong ethics culture in a rapidly expanding business environment, ideally in the technology or financial services industry.
- Skilled in establishing and enhancing second line of defense programs.
- Experienced in working with and presenting to senior and executive leadership, as well as board of directors.
- Passionate about financial technology, blockchain, and cryptocurrency disruption, with a strong ability to work as part of a team.
- Comfortable in a dynamic and evolving environment, proficient in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Adapt at working autonomously with minimal guidance, while also collaborating effectively as a team member.
- Familiarity with Slack, Apple MacOS, and GSuite is preferred.
Additional Information:
- This role is eligible for PERM sponsorship for qualified candidates.
- The range for base pay is $187,500 to $240,000 per year.
- Annual bonus target is set at 20%.
- Additional benefits include equity, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), discretionary vacation policy, 10 days of paid sick leave per year, and 11 paid holidays per year in the U.S.
