Internship Overview:
We are looking for a Legal & Compliance Extern to become part of our global internal Legal Team at R3. The Legal Team at R3 offers assistance and collaborates with various parties within the organization, such as the commercial, product, engineering, and professional services teams. Our daily tasks involve negotiating commercial contracts, NDAs, and vendor agreements; maintaining R3's compliance with relevant laws, contracts, and policies; examining and contributing to commercial proposals; and examining corporate documents. This externship provides you with an opportunity to work closely with and learn from our small team comprising 4 attorneys with varying levels of expertise, located in New York and London.
Engage in weekly one-on-one sessions with your supervisor to receive feedback and set objectives for the following week. Learn from leaders across different departments within the organization, gaining a comprehensive understanding of how an innovative tech startup functions from Product to Sales. Present your work, glean knowledge from seasoned team members, and maximize the opportunities available during your internship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in updating template agreements and other procedures related to software license agreements, statements of work, and professional services agreements
- Help with reviews of non-disclosure and vendor agreements
- Conduct sanctions checks, update compliance policies, and aid in other compliance-related tasks
- Undertake miscellaneous research projects
- Support ongoing maintenance of the intellectual property portfolio and address open source software issues
- Contribute to data privacy audit efforts

- Assist in corporate and real estate matters as necessary
Education & Experience:
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in law or PGDL
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
- Interest in startups, fintech, and/or blockchain technology
