Description
The company is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their global legal team and focus on regulatory matters in Europe. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in financial innovation, enjoy collaborating across different functions to solve complex issues, and be enthusiastic about the company's mission.
As a part of the legal team, your main responsibilities will include:
- Providing proactive legal and regulatory advice to various stakeholders within the organization to facilitate the development and launch of financial products compliant with obligations and user needs.
- Collaborating across functions to assess and address legal and regulatory risks in introducing new products and services in Europe.
- Contributing to enhancing the regulatory advisory function within the company.
- Representing the company in engagements with regulators, financial partners, users, and other external parties.
- Reviewing, updating, and drafting user agreements and other customer-facing terms and conditions.
- Collaborating with Risk, Compliance, and Privacy teams globally to evaluate regulations and define company standards accordingly.
- Reviewing and advising on external marketing content and user experiences.
- Selecting and overseeing external legal counsels as necessary.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of post-qualification experience either in-house or at a respected law firm, with at least 2 years focused on banking law, payments law, FinTech, or financial services in international environments.
- Ability to offer legal and regulatory advice on product design, modification, and expansion.
- Comfortable applying law in unclear contexts.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to provide sound legal advice and collaborate effectively with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Managing multiple assignments concurrently and resolving conflicting priorities with innovative solutions.
- Prior experience in product legal matters within technology or financial services, or launching joint product experiences with strategic partners preferred but not mandatory.
Knowledge
- Interest in cryptocurrencies, prior experience with crypto companies a plus.
- Expertise in payments and investment industries, especially in consumer-facing sectors, is highly advantageous.
- Understanding of financial services regulations and licensing processes.
