The esteemed team of journalists provides news and insightful perspectives that enhance transparency, understanding, and context. CoinDesk Events unites the worldwide crypto, blockchain, and Web3 communities at flagship events such as Consensus, the extensive and long-standing crypto festival. CoinDesk Indices offers specialized services in digital asset indices, data, and research to educate and empower investors.
The Vacancy
CoinDesk seeks a proactive business development and sales expert to foster the growth of its Media & Events business specifically in the APAC region. Given the borderless nature of digital assets and decentralized protocols, this role encompasses key hubs such as Hong Kong, Seoul, Singapore, Shanghai, and Tokyo in Asia. As an integral part of the global Partnerships team, the ideal candidate will nurture existing client relationships, cultivate new partnerships, and emerge as a key influencer in the region's crypto and global investor communities. The successful candidate should be self-motivated, disciplined, and able to identify opportunities and establish trust with clients effectively.
This position will be situated in either Hong Kong or Singapore and will report to the Managing Director, Partnerships based in New York.
Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement business development strategies to drive CoinDesk's expansion in APAC, solidifying its standing as a global crypto leader for media and events.
- Enhance and broaden an established client portfolio through unmatched customer service and tailored solutions.
- Proactively identify and seize new business and revenue prospects by fostering relationships with key stakeholders in startups and Fortune 500 companies.
- Serve as a reputable advocate for all CoinDesk offerings, including live events, digital media, videos, podcasts, newsletters, thought leadership articles, research, and webinars.
- Cultivate a robust network and reputation that effectively positions the CoinDesk brand to prospective and current clients for enduring partnerships, excelling as a trusted consultant capable of maximizing client ROI.
- Demonstrate a results-oriented approach, striving to meet and surpass revenue targets consistently.
- Collaborate with the Global Partnerships team and business leads at CoinDesk, promoting a culture of teamwork and shared success.
- Uphold data accuracy in Salesforce and other existing systems to track all sales activities and pipeline metrics effectively.
- Develop sales insights and provide regular feedback on enhancements to boost pipeline generation.
- Travel as required for client meetings and relevant industry conferences.
Requirements
- Over a decade of experience in media and/or events sales within crypto, global finance, and/or tech sectors.
- Profound knowledge and enthusiasm for the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry.
- Results-driven business leader with a proven history of achieving brand and business objectives while managing client relationships effectively.
- Strong existing industry connections across the APAC region.
- Proficiency in client relationship management practices and processes, with the ability to plan, document, and oversee activities autonomously.
- Owning accountability for one's role through effective communication and self-motivation.
- Skillful collaboration with team members from diverse backgrounds and expertise areas.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time and occasionally for periods exceeding one week.
- Proficient in Salesforce, Excel, Powerpoint, Slack, and G Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a preference for bilingual fluency in English along with full professional proficiency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin.
