Primary Responsibilities:
The role of Senior Counsel at Circle entails critical support for the Product Team in developing innovative digital asset offerings, along with providing regulatory guidance to business teams on U.S. and global digital asset regulations.
Key Duties:
- Consult on U.S. and international digital asset regulations concerning banking relationships, global expansion, and licensing efforts.
- Aid the product team in creating a range of scalable digital asset products and services, such as stablecoins, digital wallets, Web3 applications, and decentralized finance solutions.
- Mitigate legal risks through practical solutions, enhance partnerships, and nurture new opportunities.
- Stay informed on securities law, cryptocurrency, and digital currency developments to deliver comprehensive support for product initiatives and commercial advancements.
Desired Attributes:
- Possession of a Juris Doctor degree and an active law license in good standing in at least one state.
- Minimum of 12 years in in-house/Biglaw capacities, focusing on regulatory coverage, preferably within fintech or financial services sectors.
- Proficient in coordinating global regulatory evaluations, collaboration with external counsel, and launching products related to USDC worldwide distribution.
- Familiarity with digital asset AML/CFT regulations internationally, including sanctions regulations, BSA, OFAC rules, and travel requirements.
- Knowledge of U.S. securities law, SEC regulations, Commodity Exchange Act, and CFTC regulations.
- A passionate individual with proven expertise in cryptocurrency, blockchain, or fintech, adept at providing actionable regulatory counsel in an intricate and dynamic regulatory landscape.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to foster business partnerships, and a commitment to continuous learning and mentorship.
Additional Details:
- This role may offer day-one PERM sponsorship for eligible candidates.
- Compensation considerations include factors such as experience, skill set, qualifications, and business needs.
- Base pay range: $207,500 - $270,000.
- Annual bonus target: 17.5%.
