Responsibilities:

As Circle’s inaugural Data Science professional specializing in Machine Learning, you will initially focus on addressing two crucial challenges: identifying potentially illicit transactions and actors, and enhancing the allocation of reserves across different accounts to mitigate systemic risks. Your efforts directly impact Circle’s compliance in the crypto industry, necessitating the development of optimal models and techniques for solving these challenges. Additionally, you will conduct research, generate insights, and at times explore diverse areas to deepen the understanding of our business operations. While this role predominantly concentrates on machine learning applications, it may entail applying data science to resolve other issues where machine learning may not be the sole or most effective solution.

Primary Areas to Work On:

• Lead the development, enhancement, and upkeep of models to detect suspicious transactions and actors, besides rebalancing reserves across accounts to minimize systemic risks.
• Identify and tackle valuable machine learning problems beyond the initial focus areas.
• Enhance business decision-making by identifying data, defining metrics, establishing data pipelines, and building data models to power dashboards and data-driven products of high quality.
• Conduct in-depth analyses and model creation to comprehend customer behavior and extract pivotal insights impacting product strategies.
• Effectively communicate business status, experimental results, and recommendations to various team members and senior leadership.
• Conduct data analysis on blockchain activity to evaluate trading behavior, motives, and the role of USDC within the broader crypto ecosystem.

Key Qualifications:

• 5+ years of data analysis or data science experience, with a minimum of 3 years dedicated to machine learning challenges, preferably in related fields like KYC, sanctions detection, anti-fraud detection, treasury management, or crypto/blockchain data science.
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language such as R or Python for manipulating and analyzing data.
• Extensive knowledge of machine learning principles and their practical applications.
• Demonstrated expertise in conceptualizing and executing production-ready machine learning models.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities with keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills to convey complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Additional Information:

• This position is open to immediate PERM sponsorship for eligible candidates.

Compensation Details:

• Base Pay Range: $147,500 - $195,000
• Annual Bonus Target: 12.5%
