About the Role
Figment operates over 60 blockchains globally and aims to expand its support.
This full-time remote position collaborates with team members in North America and Europe.
We are in search of a Senior DevOps Engineer to facilitate scaling operations by designing and executing projects to manage fleets of blockchain servers effectively. This role offers distinctive prospects to pioneer tools in a sector lacking such resources. You will be responsible for crafting robust production systems capable of accommodating cutting-edge (sometimes alpha) blockchain software while prioritizing security, monitoring, maintenance, and stability.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Drive projects' planning, testing, implementation, and management to deliver scalable, secure, and stable deployments across varied use cases
- Identify opportunities for automation enhancement to optimize infrastructure management
- Identify and mitigate systemic risks by implementing suitable solutions
- Oversee cloud and physical servers across diverse global hosting services and data centers
- Automate blockchain software build, installation, and management processes
- Conduct Linux server administration, security hardening, intrusion detection, and vulnerability scanning
- Troubleshoot complex distributed blockchain issues to ensure seamless operation
- Provide support in streamlining stalled or slow-moving tasks and processes
- Articulate overarching initiatives and vision to Engineering Leadership and Product
- Demonstrate technical expertise across multiple domains and mentor team members
Qualifications
- Profound expertise in managing Linux servers within large-scale environments (500+ servers), ideally in secure, 24/7 accessible setups, with adept troubleshooting abilities to promptly identify and resolve server, network, and application issues. Skilled in optimizing system performance through configuring common OS and application settings
- Skills in scripting with system administration languages like bash and Python
- Proficiency in utilizing Ansible (or equivalent tools) in environments with 500+ servers, encompassing designing intricate inventories, variable structures, playbooks, and creating custom Ansible roles with advanced features
- Experience in structured module development using Terraform for seamless cloud provisioning automation and image build pipelines with Packer
- Thorough understanding of networking and security best practices
- Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault or similar secure storage tools
- Background in high-security business environments
Nice to have
- Experience in Ansible role testing using tools like Molecule and the development of Ansible modules
- Knowledge or experience with Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake decentralized consensus mechanisms utilized in blockchains
- Proficiency with Kubernetes application deployment
- Experience in setting up CI/CD pipelines for automated infrastructure provisioning and application deployment
Compensation and Benefits
- Base Salary: The salary range for this position in CAD is between $140,000 - $180,000, and in USD $140,000 - $180,000, reflecting base pay only. For candidates outside Canada and the US, the pay scale will be clarified during the initial interview process.
