Senior Manager of Onsite Generation & Power Origination
Job Overview
The position of Senior Manager in Onsite Generation & Power Origination at CleanSpark involves leading the company's outbound approach to power development. The main responsibilities of this role include identifying potential generation assets and power-producer partners, conducting feasibility assessments on different aspects like land, gas supply, water, permitting, and interconnection, as well as structuring various agreements related to power purchase and capacity. The successful candidate will need to manage the Onsite Generation & Power Origination Associate and establish a best practices playbook for outbound origination.
Main Responsibilities
- Identify behind-the-meter opportunities by discovering existing and future generation assets and various power-producer partners.
- Conduct thorough feasibility assessments encompassing land, gas supply, water, permitting, and interconnection for potential sites and collaborations.
- Negotiate and structure power purchase agreements, tolling agreements, and capacity agreements with relevant parties.
- Develop the economics of projects, including financial analysis, cost scenarios, and profitability considerations.
- Oversee the selection of EPC partners for onsite generation projects.
- Progress opportunities through negotiation stages and facilitate a structured handoff for project execution.
- Mentor and guide the Onsite Generation & Power Origination Associate and establish an effective origination playbook.
- Represent CleanSpark in dealings with partners, advisors, and industry events.
- Undertake any additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.
Candidates for this role should exhibit professionalism, leadership capabilities, sharp business acumen, and the ability to navigate complex transactions within a dynamic organizational setting.
Required Qualifications
- Ideally possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering, Energy, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or demonstrate equivalent professional experience and industry training.
- At least eight to twelve years of experience in power project development or independent power producer origination within the energy sector.
- Proven track record in executing power purchase agreements or similar structured energy transactions.
- Proficiency in gas-fired and onsite generation technologies, project development timelines, and risk assessment.
- Strong financial modeling skills, including familiarity with project economics and cost analysis metrics.
- Experience in EPC partner management and collaboration with engineering and construction teams.
- Willingness to travel as required within the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous involvement in powering data centers, mining operations, or similar large-scale flexible loads.
- Established connections within the independent power producer, midstream gas, and energy developer networks.
- Direct experience in people management roles.
The salary range for this position is between $95,000 to $150,000 annually.
