Description
Our client is a rapidly expanding consumer technology company specializing in active entertainment. They have developed an innovative interactive play system that utilizes body movement to deliver engaging and active experiences for users of all ages. The platform prioritizes privacy and safety, facilitating year-round indoor play while complying with strict child safety and data protection regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a global market access and compliance strategy for hardware and accessories in key regions.
- Determine regulatory pathways and establish timelines for existing and potential markets, highlighting risks and devising mitigation strategies.
- Maintain a detailed matrix of regulatory requirements per product and market, encompassing standards, directives, and schemes.
- Manage relationships with accredited testing labs and certification bodies, overseeing scope, quotes, scheduling, and issue resolution.
- Lead pre-compliance and full certification processes from start to finish.
- Coordinate with manufacturing partners regarding firmware and hardware changes, prompting necessary re-testing or documentation updates.
- Institute a compliance governance schedule, incorporating post-market surveillance, reporting, and decision monitoring.
Requirements:
- Over 10 years of regulatory compliance experience in fields such as consumer electronics, IoT, gaming, or AV hardware.
- Background in supporting retail and distribution channels in the US, UK, and EU.
- Proficient in overseeing EMC, RF, and safety testing with accredited labs.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks like CE/UKCA, FCC/ISED, and at least one APAC scheme.
- Knowledge of regulations such as RoHS, REACH, WEEE, and Battery regulations.
- Experience handling compliance matters with JDM/ODM partners during design alterations and component substitutions.
- Strong aptitude in documentation including technical files, declarations, test plans, labeling, and post-market procedures.
- Robust project management skills and the ability to coordinate effectively across various functions.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in EE/ME, RF, EMC, or product safety engineering.
- Exposure to privacy compliance frameworks like GDPR, COPPA, or similar regulations.
- Experience with Bluetooth or HDMI certifications.
- Familiarity with connected devices featuring cameras, microphones, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth.
- Previous work involving toys or consumer devices targeting children.
