Role Overview

The Senior Security Engineer position at Shakepay is instrumental in ensuring the security of the company's digital assets, infrastructure, and customer data against cyber threats. Leveraging deep technical knowledge, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing robust security measures across different areas to safeguard Shakepay and its customers' assets and data. Reporting to the Head of Security, this role offers a significant impact on Shakepay's security environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with various departments at Shakepay to create effective solutions balancing security, user experience, and product expansion.
• Serve as a security expert and mentor across multiple security domains, producing impactful results for operational and engineering teams.
• Manage relationships related to security processes, services, and vendors internally and externally.
• Lead discussions on threat modeling for current production systems and projects in progress.
• Maintain and enhance the Zero Trust environment.
• Develop, fine-tune, and automate response alerts through coding.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide technical leadership during security incidents.
• Engage in governance, compliance, and regulatory audits such as SOC2, ISO 27001, and PCI compliance.

Requirements

• Over 5 years of diverse security experience encompassing Enterprise & Operational Security, Incident Response, Offensive Security, GRC, and Product Security.
• More than 5 years of experience in a cloud setting (preferably AWS).
• Proficiency in high-level programming for alerting system development and security task automation.
• Strong sense of ownership and exceptional communication skills prioritizing and managing work scope.
• A keen interest in simplifying security practices and promoting a security-focused culture.
• Previous experience in a heavily regulated environment, preferably within a start-up setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on software development experience impacting product features directly.
• Familiarity with Bitcoin technology and cryptography.
• Proficiency in Git (GitHub) for project and process management.
