Software Engineer - Retail

This position necessitates full-time presence at our Toronto office to support collaborative team dynamics and innovative problem-solving.

BitGo is seeking a proficient Software Engineer to join our Retail team and contribute towards constructing an API-first platform tailored for businesses and developers interested in launching cryptocurrency products.

Responsibilities:

• Develop scalable, well-abstracted, and robust APIs, libraries, and services for our API-first platform
• Manage functionality and scalability features from inception through deployment and integration with customers
• Document and expose functionality to external and internal tooling, including third-party developers and the UI
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, define, and deliver new features
• Write efficient, maintainable, and clean code
• Ensure application performance, quality, and responsiveness
• Identify and rectify bottlenecks and bugs in the system
• Continuously explore, evaluate, and implement new technologies for enhancing development efficiency
• Engage in code reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous enhancement
• Partner closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to refine and comprehend product requirements
• Provide mentorship to peers in the broader engineering team through code reviews and best practices education

Required:

• More than 3 years of proven experience in back-end and server-side development
• Strong skills in algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis
• Proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and Express
• Demonstrated experience with Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
• Sound expertise in RESTful API design
• Experience with microservices and service-oriented architectures
• Knowledge of unit and functional testing, as well as debugging
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub, branching methodologies, code review tools, CI tools, etc.
• Capability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, applied mathematics, or a related technical discipline from a leading university
• Interest and understanding of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology

Preferred:

• Experience in developing consumer-facing crypto products
• Proven track record of building public-facing APIs in production settings
• Full-stack capabilities and familiarity with React
• Previous experience working with clients and business partners
• Exposure to digital wallets, clearing and settlement, lending, trading, accounting systems, etc.

Salary Information: Depending on leveling and location, the compensation for this role typically ranges between $160,000 - $220,000 CAD base salary, inclusive of equity and an annual performance bonus.
