Systems Engineer
Description
Our client is developing AI-powered operations software for fast-food/QSR restaurant chains in the US and aims to expand. They are looking for a professional to lead the systems team that handles the infrastructure supporting the software as the company grows.
Responsibilities
- Guide the systems team, providing technical direction, mentorship, and hands-on support.
- Manage a distributed on-premises edge fleet, including in-store servers and camera hardware, ensuring secure networking across customer sites.
- Develop self-service tools, scripts, and internal APIs to enable customer support and field technicians to independently handle installations and debugging, reducing escalations.
- Oversee a self-hosted monitoring stack across edge and cloud environments, with SLO tracking and alerting integrated with automated ticketing and remediation.
- Implement automation for event-driven auto-remediation and ticketing using tools like Ansible/AWX and AWS serverless components to streamline operations.
- Administer core infrastructure at the Taipei office, including internal networking, virtualization, Kubernetes, storage, and self-hosted services.
- Collaborate with ML engineers, product managers, customer success, and client-side IT teams to align systems investments with the product roadmap.
- Manage the on-call rotation, incident response, and ensure recurring issues are resolved with permanent fixes and documented procedures.
- Lead security and compliance efforts, including ISO 27001 ISMS maintenance, vulnerability management, code scanning, and disaster recovery testing.
Requirements
- Experience leading infrastructure, platform, or SRE teams with a hands-on approach.
- 5+ years of experience in systems, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering, with proficiency in Linux administration and managing production fleets.
- Strong knowledge of core networking concepts and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi).
- Expertise in observability tools for monitoring at scale and making informed monitoring decisions.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation languages like Bash and Python.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in documentation and incident management.
- Fluency in Mandarin and English for internal team communication and collaboration with US-based stakeholders.
- Prioritization skills to balance reliability with delivery speed.
Preferred Experience: Experience with IP cameras/NVRs, real-time video streaming, storage/NAS operations, vulnerability scanning tools, low-code workflow automation.
