Role summary
As the Banking Service Tech Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the foundational systems and leading technical initiatives for our banking services. Responsibilities include orchestrating, constructing, and upholding the core banking infrastructure, collaborating closely with multifaceted teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, security protocols, and exceptional customer experiences. This leadership position necessitates technical proficiency as well as robust people management skills to steer high-performing teams.
Core Responsibilities
- Spearhead the technical design and integration of core banking systems using Golang or Ruby on Rails
- Establish the groundwork for the digital banking platform, encompassing payment networks, account management, and transaction processing
- Design and implement secure and scalable banking APIs adhering to Open API requirements
- Collaborate with compliance teams to implement effective KYC/AML systems and frameworks
- Develop data reporting mechanisms that fulfill regulatory demands and business intelligence needs
- Architect and deploy financial treasury procedures, FX exchange capacities, and crediting systems
- Guide the team in integrating with payment networks and banking associates
- Ensure all systems meet stringent regulatory requirements and security benchmarks
- Cultivate, mentor, and manage engineering teams, providing career progression and performance evaluations
- Promote engineering excellence through best practices, code assessments, and continual enhancements
- Manage project schedules, resource allocations, and technical deliverables efficiently
- Collaborate with product, design, and business stakeholders to align technical strategies with business objectives
- Represent the engineering team in executive and cross-functional meetings
Prerequisite Qualifications
- More than 8 years of software development experience, with a minimum of 5 years in financial technology realm
- Over 3 years of people leadership experience, guiding engineering squads of 5 or more members
- Proficient in Golang or Ruby on Rails
- Demonstrated capacity in constructing and scaling banking or financial services platforms
- In-depth comprehension of banking processes, payment networks, and financial systems
- Extensive experience in implementing KYC/AML solutions and regulatory compliance structures
- Knowledge of data security protocols pertinent to financial institutions
- Familiarity with treasury management systems, foreign exchange dealings, and crediting processes
- Strong grasp of RESTful APIs and Open API specifications
- Proficiency in microservices architecture and cloud-native applications
- Proven leadership abilities to inspire and motivate teams
- Effective conflict management and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to elucidate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in collaborating with global bank auditors and regulatory compliance groups
- Experience with integrating SaaS banking core systems such as ThoughtMachine, Audax, or Temenos
- Involvement with System Integrators (SI) on substantial financial projects
- Understanding of ISO 20022, PSD2, or other banking standards
- Exposure to real-time payment systems and card processing networks
- Awareness of blockchain or distributed ledger technologies for financial use
- Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization
- Knowledge in data science or analytics relevant to financial services
- Experience handling distributed or remote engineering teams
- Demonstrated success in delivering projects in highly regulated environments
