Role Overview
We are seeking a Technical Product Manager to join a small yet experienced team to lead the vision and development of a data-focused product. This role is perfect for an individual with a strong curiosity for data, a knack for handling technical concepts, and a passion for creating efficient and reliable reporting products. You will take charge of the product, backlog, and discovery process, collaborating closely with engineers and stakeholders to shape the solution effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Define requirements and oversee technical and data-related components.
- Manage the product backlog by creating clear and structured tickets, ensuring efficient board management, and aligning priorities with business objectives.
- Collaborate with engineers on architecture, data flows, and implementation trade-offs as a technical Product Manager.
- Understand and discuss data pipelines, ETL processes, and data consumer use cases proficiently.
- Develop and review SQL queries for data validation, support analysis, and report accuracy.
- Uphold best practices in RESTful APIs and ensure seamless integration across backend services, data platforms, and consumers.
- Utilize data platforms and BI/reporting tools expertly, and uphold high standards for report quality, consistency, and usability.
- Advocate for data consumers' needs to provide clear, reliable, and actionable insights through reporting.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Product Manager in technical or data-driven environments.
- Strong technical background with the ability to engage with engineering teams effectively.
- Proficiency in data platforms, analytics, and reporting systems.
- Ability to write and validate SQL queries.
- Familiarity with ETL concepts, data pipelines, and downstream data consumers.
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and system integrations.
- Experience with BI tools or data warehouses like Snowflake.
- Excellent backlog management, requirement definition, and prioritization skills.
- Comfortable working in dynamic, discovery-driven environments with ambiguity.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
Preferred Skills
- Background as a data analyst or experience in a data-focused engineering role.
- Familiarity with modern cloud data platforms, particularly Snowflake.
- Strong opinions on data modeling, reporting standards, and analytics best practices.
- Experience in early-stage or ambiguous solution projects.
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum environments as a Product Owner or TPM.
