Business Development Manager - Taiwan (Market Entry)
This role entails leading the establishment of our business operations in Taiwan and acquiring new customers. As the first local commercial hire reporting to regional leadership, you will operate with high autonomy to initiate market penetration independently, without the support of an existing in-country team or office.
Your responsibilities include launching the market from scratch by strategically selecting initial market segments, devising a practical go-to-market strategy, and cultivating early customer and partner relationships. You will oversee the complete sales cycle, engaging senior stakeholders, articulating the business value proposition of our solution, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure successful customer outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Spearhead market entry activities in Taiwan, focusing on vertical prioritization and early go-to-market implementation.
- Establish an initial network of merchants and ecosystem partners to drive pipeline growth.
- Cultivate channel partnerships with relevant entities like agencies, fulfillment, delivery, and payment providers to facilitate lead generation and adoption.
- Act as a local ambassador at industry events to enhance brand awareness and credibility.
- Provide structured feedback to APAC leadership on competitor activities, regulatory changes, and customer requirements.
- Drive new business expansion and market share growth in a developing region.
- Manage the end-to-end sales process from discovery to negotiation and closure, collaborating closely with internal teams.
- Employ consultative selling techniques to target mid-market and enterprise clients, emphasizing value and return on investment.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers.
- Ensure accurate pipeline management, forecasting, and achievement of quarterly targets.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of B2B sales experience in SaaS, e-commerce, payments, or related sectors (experience in cross-border commerce is a bonus).
- Demonstrated success in generating leads and closing new business in a self-managed environment.
- Extensive network within Taiwan's retail and consumer brand landscape, especially in direct-to-consumer channels.
- Ability to work autonomously in a limited local infrastructure environment while navigating ambiguity effectively.
- Proven track record of meeting or surpassing sales objectives.
- Strong stakeholder management expertise, with the capability to influence customers and internal teams.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Fluent in both Chinese and English with excellent presentation skills.
- Located in Taiwan.
