Director, Global Tax Compliance and Tax Accounting
We are seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Director of Global Tax Compliance and Tax Accounting situated in Hong Kong / Singapore. The role entails overseeing the expanding tax compliance and tax accounting team at our organization.
The incumbent will have the opportunity to supervise the tax compliance and tax accounting team and work closely with team members on various aspects of the tax function, such as transfer pricing structuring and tax/finance technology projects.
Reporting directly to the SVP - Global Head of Tax, the selected candidate will be responsible for managing a team of direct reports, engaging in group audit reviews of tax with external auditors, and participating in transactional and structuring initiatives.
The ideal candidate must exhibit strong leadership qualities, demonstrate the implementation of tax plans, and collaborate with diverse teams to identify opportunities for value creation and develop strategies to mitigate tax-related risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising tax compliance activities and ensuring the implementation of group tax compliance policies across all jurisdictions
- Reviewing and overseeing quarterly income tax provisions and deferred tax calculations for consolidated and key subsidiary entities in accordance with ASC740 and IFRS standards, including related footnote disclosures
- Preparing tax management reports and conducting modeling of the Effective Tax Rate (ETR) and cash taxes
- Managing processes related to tax audit reviews with external auditors
- Leading tax accounting aspects of acquisitions and other transactional activities
- Directing future tax technology projects concerning tax accounting, reporting, tax compliance, and transfer pricing
- Collaborating closely with the transfer pricing team and reviewing facets of key intercompany transactions like financing and support services
- Leading or supporting other special projects and driving process improvements
Requirements
- Possession of a CPA designation or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Big 4 public accounting and/or multinational corporate tax departments within a public company setting
- Solid background in ASC740 and IFRS tax accounting and reporting, as well as experience in managing compliance processes
- Demonstrated expertise in handling complex international tax issues
- Previous involvement in the implementation of tax accounting or tax compliance technological solutions
- Preferably, experience in managing tax matters across multiple countries
- Understanding of transfer pricing principles and practical implementation
- Well-developed leadership, project management, organizational, and communication skills
- Integral qualities such as intellectual agility, professionalism, flexibility, strong analytical capacities, and problem-solving abilities
- Open-minded and flexible demeanor with a hands-on work mentality
- Highly organized and hardworking individual adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressures
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with a strong inclination towards being a team player
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English
