We are seeking a skilled individual to fill the role of Head of Securities Compliance. As the primary expert on securities compliance, you will address regulatory matters, registration, and ensure compliance with trading activities on a daily basis. Collaboration across departments will be essential to develop and implement robust compliance practices aligned with Shakepay's strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have experience in CIRO dealerships, cryptocurrency, and share our vision of ushering in a Bitcoin-focused financial era.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the process of securing CIRO registration for Shakepay and oversee compliance post-registration.
  • Ensure Shakepay's compliance with restricted dealer license terms under the CSA regulatory framework.
  • Possess expertise in AML, securities compliance, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Drive compliance strategy at a strategic level and integrate compliance as a core value in decision-making processes company-wide.
  • Provide support for compliance risk management activities, obtain legal opinions, and navigate ambiguous situations.
  • Review and deliver monthly compliance reports and quarterly and annual reports to the Board of Directors and Senior Management.
  • Identify compliance vulnerabilities, risks, and execute corrective measures in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain updated compliance policies and procedures in line with relevant regulations and obligations concerning Shakepay.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a compliance role.
  • Proficiency in regulatory reporting systems and NRD filing procedures.
  • Familiarity with CIRO and NI 31-103 regulations and rules.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Basic understanding of Bitcoin and Crypto-Assets.
  • Completion of CSC, PDO, and CCO Qualifying Exam.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in English and French.
  • ACAMS Certification.
