Position Overview
The Senior Credit Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end credit risk operations for the firm's investment platform, with a primary focus on OTC derivatives, structured products, and marginable securities. This role entails establishing robust credit frameworks, managing margin and collateral practices, enhancing credit risk analytics, and facilitating scalable growth across the platform's securities and derivatives network.
The ideal candidate should be a strategic thinker with a profound understanding of counterparty credit risk, product structuring, risk modeling, and regulatory compliance in global markets while having comprehensive technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and implement the overall credit risk strategy for OTC products, derivatives, and margin finance activities.
- Build and lead an efficient Credit Specialist team as the business expands, comprising analysts, modelers, and credit approval officers.
- Collaborate with business leadership to uphold robust risk standards during product expansion.
2. Credit Risk Framework & Governance
- Establish and uphold comprehensive credit risk policies covering counterparty credit assessments, margin and collateral frameworks, stress testing, and more.
- Supervise credit limit settings, monitoring processes, approval workflows, and escalation protocols.
3. OTC & Derivatives Credit Oversight
- Lead credit evaluation and approval for complex OTC products like options, forwards, structured derivatives, and marginable securities.
- Assess counterparty exposures utilizing various models and refine collateral optimization strategies.
4. Margin, Collateral & Liquidity Management
- Manage margin methodologies and supervise margin call, liquidation, and client-level risk monitoring processes.
- Drive the modernization of collateral management systems, margin engines, and exposure analytics.
5. Risk Technology & Data
- Collaborate with Product, Technology, and Data teams to build real-time exposure dashboards, stress-testing engines, margin calculators, and more.
- Advocate for automation and machine-learning-driven credit insights.
6. Regulatory & Compliance Alignment
- Ensure alignment with global regulatory frameworks and timely reporting of exposures.
- Engage with regulators, auditors, and internal compliance teams as necessary.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Possess 10-15+ years of experience in credit risk, derivatives, structured products, or risk management within a financial setting.
- Deep expertise in OTC derivatives valuation, collateral rules, counterparty exposure modeling, and strong leadership skills.
Preferred
- Experience integrating credit risk capabilities in a digital or investment platform environment.
- Familiarity with margin engines, risk technology stack, and automation tools.
