About the Role
The U.S. Treasurer, reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Accounting – Americas, oversees the treasury operations for Crypto.com’s U.S. and Canadian derivatives and prediction-markets entities, which include the Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) and Nadex. Managing a team of four, the Treasurer is responsible for cash and liquidity management, payments and settlement processes, banking relationships, custody operations, and implementing treasury controls across multiple legal entities. This role requires hands-on leadership with a focus on modernizing operations through process automation and AI in a heavily regulated, time-critical environment where the protection of customer funds and ensuring market liquidity are top priorities. With the company's fast-paced growth trajectory, this position presents a unique opportunity to establish and scale the treasury operations supporting the expanding prediction-markets franchise.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead, nurture, and retain a high-performing U.S. Treasury team, establishing clear objectives, coaching team members, and ensuring a high level of accuracy and accountability.
- Implement measurable performance expectations and hold team members responsible through performance scorecards.
- Enhance team performance, develop talent, and ensure comprehensive backup support for critical treasury functions.
- Act as a strategic partner with senior leadership in business, Product, Trading, and Technology.
- Collaborate with global treasury counterparts on mutual priorities, deadlines, and upcoming product launches.
Treasury and Financial Management
- Manage daily cash positions across multiple legal entities, monitoring balances, liquidity levels, capital requirements, and funding needs.
- Supervise daily treasury funding transfers to ensure precise execution, timely settlement, accurate tracking, and proactive issue escalation.
- Ensure optimal liquidity levels are maintained to meet all customer and operational obligations continually.
- Conduct daily reconciliations for trading systems and bank accounts, addressing reconciling items and breaks promptly.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Technology teams to design and adjust funds flow for new products, accounts, and banking setups.
Banking Relations and Key Operations
- Review and approve daily payments, wire transfers, and vendor disbursements.
- Act as the primary contact for banking partners, overseeing bank account management for U.S. and Canadian entities.
- Manage banking and payment-portal access, including entitlements, approval limits, MFA, access reviews, and duties segregation.
- Supervise custody settlement operations, including user administration, transaction policies, and invoice approvals.
- Address bank-partner due-diligence requests and cross-border FX settlement efficiently.
- Focus on optimizing treasury-related costs, diminishing bank account fees, and enhancing interest income across banking relationships.
- Coordinate responses to operational disruptions affecting settlements by collaborating with Technology and third-party partners.
Process Enhancements and Automation
- Advocate for the application of process automation and AI to streamline treasury operations, improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and scalability.
- Expand existing automation processes such as reconciliation and reporting send-outs, transaction tracking, and balance reporting.
- Shape and execute the automation roadmap for treasury operations, prioritizing impactful opportunities in cash management, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting.
Regulatory Compliance and Audit Oversight
Handling critical compliance matters, particularly related to regulatory deadlines and reporting, including:
- Ensuring ongoing compliance with NFA and CFTC regulations concerning customer-funds protection and segregated funds requirements.
- Support regulatory reporting, examinations, and audit requests for the FCM, Nadex, and associated entities.
- Manage state unclaimed-property reporting and other statutory compliance duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive treasury, finance, or financial operations experience, with at least 2–3 years in team leadership.
- Strong leadership skills with proven success in developing high-performance teams.
- Background in implementing process automation and AI in financial or treasury workflows.
- Experience reducing treasury-related costs, optimizing interest income, and managing multi-entity cash, settlement, and liquidity functions.
- Knowledge in payments, settlement operations, reconciliation controls, and banking relationships.
- Prior experience in regulated financial services environments.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and engage with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively under strict compliance deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience in financial institutions or derivatives organizations.
- Familiarity with customer segregation rules and residual interest requirements.
- Professional certifications such as CTP, CFA, or CPA.
- Track record of scaling automation and AI in finance or treasury functions.
- Exposure to cross-border treasury operations and digital assets/custody areas.
- Hands-on experience with TMS, advanced Excel, and BI tools.
Work Details
This is a full-time role based in Chicago, IL, with a hybrid work arrangement incorporating both in-office and remote work.
Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000 per year
