Corporate Assistant Controller
Job Summary:
An opportunity at Grayscale Investments, the leading digital currency asset manager globally, is currently open for a Corporate Assistant Controller. This role involves overseeing financial operations for Grayscale and its expanding portfolio of investment products. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented accountant with a focus on processes and systems, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting to support the company's growth and daily operations. In addition to managing financial matters, the Corporate Assistant Controller will contribute to internal and external financial information production, treasury management, regulatory compliance, and more, working closely with the financial reporting team and managing diverse responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct all accounting functions for the Asset Manager of multiple trusts, spanning general ledger maintenance, revenue recording, accounts payable, accrued expenses, asset amortization, fair value assessments of digital assets, gain and loss recognition, lease accounting, non-cash compensation, expense capitalization, and reconciliations of digital assets and cash accounts on a monthly basis.
- Provide financial leadership in managing the financial closing process.
- Assist in overseeing the annual budget process and track performance against budgets, as well as conduct financial analysis for new initiatives.
- Develop and implement internal control measures for proper handling and recording of digital assets and accurate financial documentation.
- Engage with external service providers such as accountants, auditors, and tax advisors to support financial operations.
- Produce regular management financial reports to facilitate timely and accurate decision-making.
- Ensure the integrity of the General Ledger, accounting systems, and chart of accounts for comprehensive financial reporting.
- Oversee consolidations and intercompany activities for precise financial reporting, with experience in transitioning to NetSuite desirable and SEC financial reporting advantageous.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA and MS/MBA preferred.
- Broker/Dealer or Asset Management background is highly desired.
- At least 3-5 years of advanced accounting and financial reporting experience, preferably in a Big Four environment.
- Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong technical accounting skills.
- Strong knowledge of financial controls and NetSuite experience.
- Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with multiple responsibilities and a mix of financial and operational tasks.
