Role Overview
As a DevOps Engineer SRE for the Infrastructure Team at ChainSafe, you will be instrumental in establishing and implementing effective strategies to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our infrastructure supporting daily activities across multiple blockchain ecosystems. This involves managing cloud and bare metal service providers in a containerized stack environment on Linux.
Your expertise will help elevate blockchain applications and push the boundaries of what's achievable in this fast-evolving technological landscape. All work at ChainSafe is open-source, offering you vast opportunities for collaboration and contributions to various web3 ecosystems.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and optimize the health, performance, and security of environments, servers, and applications throughout the technology stack, including various blockchain services and full nodes.
- Engage in global environment management while considering resources and latency.
- Be on-call for prompt responses outside regular business hours.
- Implement automation for builds, deployment, and scaling.
- Collaborate with development and support teams to address issues.
- Design and execute procedures for ChainSafe's infrastructure operations.
- Conduct deployments, network upgrades, and enhance incident response programs.
- Provide training and support to infrastructure team members for continuous node operation and incident response.
- Document technical details through open-source documentation.
- Work with internal teams and the broader community to expand and scale ChainSafe's infrastructure architecture based on internal data and blockchain research insights.
Requirements
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Go, TypeScript, Solidity, Rust).
- Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, automated deployment, and CI/CD best practices.
- Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in managing resources on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Minimum of 3 years working with Linux systems.
- Minimum of 3 years experience with monitoring and alerting tools like DataDog, Grafana, Prometheus.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in implementing distributed tracing, monitoring, and logging systems using OpenTelemetry Protocol.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in incident response systems management for production environment failures.
- Strong communication skills for effective documentation and technical communication.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Additional Experience (a plus)
- Working knowledge of the Web3 domain.
- Experience in bare metal deployments and automating network deployment.
- Understanding of Web Security, Web3 Security, Cloud Security, Systems Security, or Applied Cryptography.
