Finance Director (US)
The Finance & Accounting team encompasses various functions such as Financial Control, Business Performance Management, Procurement, Tax, Treasury, and Operations. Together, the team collaborates to optimize global finance initiatives, exhibiting attention to detail while managing multiple engaging projects.
We are in search of a Finance Director to join our team, operating as a essential leader. In this role, you will partner with the Head of Finance (Americas) to formulate and implement a comprehensive financial strategy that aligns with business growth objectives and regulatory standards. This position is based in Chicago, IL, offering a hybrid workplace setup.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the entirety of the accounting process during monthly close activities
- Manage the relationship with external auditors and the financial audit process
- Implement operational processes company-wide to ensure alignment and accountability
- Identify and implement process improvements and enhance efficiencies
- Develop and maintain operating budgets, accounting mechanisms, and cash flow management, with a focus on treasury controls
- Manage relationships with banking and treasury partners
- Optimize financial performance through effective management of cash flow, working capital, and debt
- Enhance money movement and foreign exchange procedures
- Prepare financial statements, tax returns, and regulatory reporting as required
- Provide regular financial forecasting and reporting to the Head of Finance, Americas and the Americas Management team
- Conduct detailed profit and cost analyses, identifying funding needs and strategies for cost reduction
- Collaborate with international contacts across affiliated entities
- Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team, supporting their career development
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Financial Control, Finance Management, Senior Management, or similar roles within the financial services industry
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, along with relevant certifications such as CFA or CPA
- Hands-on experience in establishing and managing procedures and controls in fast-paced environments
- Leadership background in a growth-stage company is advantageous
- Proficiency in forecasting models, cash flow management, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder communication
- Previous experience in regulatory reporting and working with financial auditors at regulated financial institutions
- Experience in fintech companies or regulated institutions like money transmitters or digital asset exchanges is a plus
- Strong understanding of the fintech industry and products, knowledge in blockchain and crypto assets operations is beneficial
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels
- Strong analytical, organizational, decision-making, and project management skills
- Comfortable working in ambiguous situations, with the ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated integrity, initiative, perseverance, and leadership qualities
