Job Role Overview
We are seeking a Finance Manager to supervise the compliance and reporting functions of the finance team at Toku. In this role, you will report to the Finance Controller and be responsible for overseeing statutory filings, monthly reporting tasks, and coordinating audits within Toku's international entity network. This position emphasizes coordination over individual task execution, necessitating management of existing team members and external consultants.
This role requires a strong focus on coordination. The Finance Manager will manage the compliance and reporting calendars, consultant relationships, and ensure the progress of workstreams. The individual in this role will need to be constantly aware of filed activities, pending tasks, risks, and necessary escalations.
Primary Responsibilities: Compliance
Manage the comprehensive compliance calendar for all entities, filing obligations, deadlines, and consultant engagements.
Coordinate VAT filings globally, ensuring timely submission of monthly and quarterly returns across non-US entities.
Supervise US state tax compliance, overseeing tasks such as state-level payroll tax returns, franchise tax filings, and annual reports for state registrations.
Administer annual filings for various requirements like annual reports, director filings, KYC renewals, and other related tasks globally.
Coordinate direct tax compliance, including tasks like CIT returns, TDS filings, and FBAR reporting.
Maintain relationships with consultants and auditors, managing engagements, negotiating fees, monitoring performance, and suggesting improvements as needed.
Manage entity lifecycle activities such as new entity incorporations, closures, share transfers, and more.
Stay updated on regulatory changes in tax, employment, and corporate laws globally, ensuring internal processes are adjusted accordingly.
Coordinate transfer pricing documentation and related filings across jurisdictions, working alongside external TP advisors.
Primary Responsibilities: Reporting
Coordinate the preparation and filing of annual financial statements across different jurisdictions.
Generate a monthly Compliance & Reporting Report for executive leadership summarizing filing statuses, deadlines, completed tasks, regulatory changes, and more.
Drive process improvements and automation initiatives for compliance and reporting workflows.
Qualifications
Possess a degree in finance or business.
Have 3-5 years of relevant compliance experience, with experience in startups considered advantageous.
Solid understanding of VAT/GST mechanics, US state tax compliance, corporate income tax coordination, and statutory filings.
Demonstrated capabilities in managing external consultants, including identifying issues, controlling scope, and fee negotiation.
Strong written communication skills for dealing with various stakeholders on a regular basis.
Proclivity for automation to streamline manual processes and propose enhancements for efficiency.
Self-driven, organized, and accountable; take ownership of tasks to ensure smooth operations.
