**About the Role
We are in search of a Research Data Scientist who possesses a knack for blending robust research methodologies with the ambition to see findings come to fruition in practical applications. Your role will entail conducting groundbreaking research in generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs), focusing on solving crypto-specific issues such as reasoning under uncertainty, ensuring agent reliability in adversarial financial environments, and enhancing multi-modal market intelligence.
This research-oriented position rests at the junction of three crucial frontiers: advancing post-training alignment and reasoning for financial agents, optimizing inference and scaling capabilities during testing, and exploring multi-agent coordination in competitive environments. The primary objective is to drive real-world impact through the development of agents that actively trade, analyze, and make decisions for millions of users.
Responsibilities:
Conduct original research in generative AI and large language models applied to the crypto and financial sectors, specifically emphasizing reasoning under market uncertainty, agent alignment, multi-agent coordination, and scaling for time-sensitive decisions.
Design and execute meticulous experiments, formulating clear hypotheses, exploring various model and training variations including RLVR-based reasoning approaches, conducting methodical ablations, and deriving statistically sound conclusions.
Develop innovative post-training methodologies and evaluation frameworks for large language models functioning in crypto settings, focusing on the quality of insight for market analysis, consistencies in agent decisions, and resilience against adversarial prompts.
Explore techniques for enhancing agent reasoning quality in fast-paced, ambiguous market conditions through test-time scaling methods such as reward model processing, self-consistency checks, and Monte Carlo Tree Search-based planning.
Stay abreast of updates and advancements within the research community across platforms like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, and other pertinent spaces, identifying opportunities to leverage cutting-edge techniques to address Binance's unique challenges.
Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include a Master's or Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields, with strong Bachelor's candidates possessing demonstrable research experience also being considered.
0-5 years of research or industry experience in ML/AI, with significant value given to robust academic or research internship involvement.
Profound comprehension of transformer architectures, large language model pretraining dynamics, post-training methods with a shift towards RLVR-based reasoning model training.
Expertise in Python and PyTorch, along with a predilection for AI-centric coding methodologies such as vibe coding practices with tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot Workspace as the primary workflow.
Solid foundation in mathematical concepts like linear algebra, probability theory, information theory, stochastic processes, and numerical optimization.
Bilingual fluency (English/Mandarin) is required to facilitate coordination with overseas partners and stakeholders.
