Key Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate for this role is a skilled leader who thrives in a dynamic and innovative environment. They will oversee and scale the essential operational framework of the tax department, addressing challenges within a complex regulatory landscape. This pivotal position involves optimizing efficiency and standardization across US and international tax compliance and reporting. A key aspect of the role is supervising external service providers in preparing federal, state, and international tax reporting and compliance functions, including income and indirect tax. Additionally, the Tax Operations team handles quarterly and annual tax accounting for financial and SEC reporting purposes.
Primary Duties:
- Managing consolidated tax provision, quarterly filings, and other tax-related financial statements in compliance with US GAAP
- Mentoring the tax team in completing the provision process, from planning and forecasting to calculations, recording, analysis, and reporting
- Overseeing external auditor relations for US GAAP audit of income taxes
- Directing the team to execute all US income tax reporting, covering federal, state, and international tax returns
- Enhancing standardization and automation in the US tax compliance process to drive continual process improvements and streamline global tax accounting
- Ensuring accuracy of reported effective tax rate components and cash taxes globally
- Promoting operational excellence through process enhancement, leveraging best practices, supporting tax software tool evolution, and enhancing efficiency and scalability through automation and technology
- Establishing and managing a global tax operations function focused on efficient processes guided by multinational corporate experience and industry best practices
- Developing and motivating a high-performing team in a rapidly evolving, hyper-growth environment
- Cultivating crucial multistakeholder relationships with Accounting, Finance, Operations, and Business teams to integrate Tax as a valuable business partner
- Contributing to quarterly reporting for the Audit Committee in Board of Director meetings
- Monitoring US tax legislative updates and examining related implications to provide financial risk and operational advice to management
- Driving key Tax contributions in designing and implementing the future ERP system and managing the tax software procurement process
- Implementing automation for recurring calculations and evaluating tax technology tools
Preference Criteria:
- 12+ years of experience in global corporate tax, including public accounting exposure
- At least 5+ years of managerial experience in a public company or corporate tax department
- Proficiency in accounting for income tax matters and US GAAP
- Familiarity with various tax calculations and compliance software
- Knowledge of international tax and cross-border variances
- Superior communication skills to articulate tax concepts to diverse teams and management
- Proficient in prioritizing tax technical positions and related documentation, with M&A expertise preferred
- Preference for experience in financial services or fintech industries
- Strong track record in leading complex, multistakeholder projects and initiatives
- Excellent relationship-building skills and commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity and work quality
- Ability to lead through collaborative, humble, and execution-driven behavior
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance; CPA certification preferred
- Familiarity with Slack, Apple MacOS, and GSuite

Compensation includes various factors such as relevant experience, skill set, qualifications, and organizational needs, impacting the starting pay within the stipulated range. Compensatory packages vary by location.
Start Pay Range: $190,000 - $242,500
Annual Bonus Aim: 20%
Offering: Equity & Benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)), discretionary vacation policy, 10 days paid sick leave per year, and 11 paid holidays annually in the U.S.
