Internal Controls and Testing Manager, Bulgaria
We are looking for a Manager of Compliance Internal Controls & Testing to oversee and improve our global internal controls and testing program in the Compliance department at Crypto.com. This key role is essential for ensuring compliance with regulations and operational resilience in various Compliance functions, including AML/CTF, KYC, EDD, investigations, and new product launches.
The ideal candidate should be a strategic thinker with strong operational discipline, capable of conducting independent reviews and internal testing assessments, and building control frameworks with a team of internal control professionals. This position will interact with global cross-functional leaders and provide senior management with insights on control performance, emerging risks, and areas for enhancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and implementation of a risk-based internal controls testing program across all compliance functions to meet regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Establish and manage the Compliance Controls Library by developing testing procedures, risk ratings, and control scoring methods.
- Generate executive-level reports and communicate findings, risks, and recommendations to senior management, including proposing corrective action plans.
- Evaluate and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of internal controls through control walkthroughs, sampling exercises, and issue tracking.
- Identify systemic issues and trends in control deficiencies and recommend sustainable improvements across Compliance operations.
- Offer strategic guidance for enhancing control design, documentation, and ownership across global Compliance procedures.
- Collaborate with Legal, Risk, Operations, Product, and Finance teams to align controls with business expansion and evolving regulatory standards.
- Engage with both external and internal audit teams as a crucial stakeholder and representative for Compliance-related reviews and queries.
- Stay updated on global regulatory changes and translate new requirements into actionable control enhancements.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in compliance testing, internal audit, risk management, or internal controls within regulated financial services, fintech, or crypto industries.
- Proficiency in AML/CTF regulations, standards (e.g., FATF), and operational compliance in areas like KYC, EDD, and investigations.
- Strong knowledge of risk assessment frameworks, control testing methodologies, and best practices in auditing.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex documents, identify control gaps, and facilitate cross-functional solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to present to executive audiences and collaborate at all organizational levels.
- High level of professional integrity, critical thinking, and discretion.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools, control monitoring platforms, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, CISA, CPA, CIA) preferred.
- Fluency in English for effective communication in a multicultural setting.
- Keen interest in crypto/blockchain technologies or working in a tech-driven regulatory environment.
