As the Lead for Accounting Policy, Processes & Controls, your role involves collaborating cross-functionally to identify and implement appropriate accounting policies. You will enhance processes and controls for Anchorage Digital's current business lines while also accounting for emerging lines of business. This position entails collaborating with various teams, conducting research, evaluating and documenting new products' accounting implications, as well as general corporate accounting matters and non-standard transactions. You will contribute to strengthening the accounting organization's control environment, facilitating company growth, and ensuring readiness for a successful IPO.
This role places you at the forefront of our accounting policy function, making you a subject matter expert in technical accounting matters. Alongside leading the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures, you will monitor and assess the impact of proposed accounting standard changes. You will also oversee the implementation of new accounting standards and the creation of accounting policies.
Ultimately, you will be responsible for preparing technical accounting memos on topics such as CECL adoption, revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, lease accounting, and internal use software. Additionally, as a member of the accounting senior leadership team, your involvement may extend to special projects, including complex transactions and accounting matters related to the annual financial audit.
Technical Skills:
- You are renowned for your technical accounting expertise, enabling you to influence both within and outside your team significantly.
- You have experience striking the right balance between progress and perfection, prioritizing higher materiality accounts and issues.
- You possess up-to-date knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance.
- You exhibit proficiency in researching and documenting accounting issues, including relevant accounting standards. Furthermore, you can read, synthesize, and summarize complex documents effectively.
- You excel not only in understanding the "why" and the big picture but also meaningfully contribute to prioritizing the work within your team, considering direct reports as well as the broader Finance team.
- Familiarity with NetSuite and Carta.
- Familiarity with GAAP accounting standards such as ASC 606, ASC 326, ASC 718, ASC 842, and ASC 740, as well as different types of equity awards and equity programs.

- You will collaborate with process owners to establish a robust control environment that supports our high-growth business, comprehending the Company's risks and controls.
- Handling complex accounting issues where problems lack clear definition and may transcend traditional principles and historical precedent.
- Demonstrating your ability to lead effectively amid uncertainty and ambiguity, drawing conclusions to drive the business forward.
- Taking responsibility for the accounting team's output, ensuring high-quality execution, and conducting material entry reviews before finalizing financial reporting.

- In-depth understanding of Anchorage's strategy and its various business lines. Actively engaging with different groups to comprehend historical transactions and requirements for executing the go-forward global strategy.
- Collaborating with leaders across Finance and other functional areas to develop plans aligning with business needs. Promoting shared understanding of Anchorage's requirements.
- Tackling complex accounting issues that demand a profound knowledge of the company's operations and context.
Communication and Influence:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and credible manner with audiences spanning from junior accountants to auditors to executive management.
- Articulating a coherent team strategy and effectively communicating across the company.
- Building productive rapport and relationships with stakeholders, including other team managers, cross-functional partners, and external collaborators.
- Facilitating communication, organization, and execution of cross-team goals and projects, leveraging relationships and resources across different departments to solve problems.
Team Leadership:
- Owning complete people management responsibilities, consistently leading individuals, teams, and projects through multiple contexts successfully.
- Providing clear directions and priorities to your team.
- Ensuring knowledge sharing within the team to avoid reliance on a single point of failure.
- Assessing team staffing needs, identifying gaps, defining roles, and managing the resource acquisition process.

This role may be a good fit for you if you have:
- A CPA qualification and prior experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into actionable steps.
- Experience in industry accounting, particularly within a high-growth, fast-paced startup environment.
Although not required, it is advantageous if:
- You possess up-to-date knowledge of advances in blockchain and crypto.
- You had an emotional connection with the soundtrack of Hamilton, which intricately tells the story of a new financial system.
Compensation at Anchorage Digital:
- Compensation at Anchorage Digital is benchmarked against the market and informed by data. All full-time employees receive a market-leading salary, meaningful equity, and a generous perks and benefits package.
- Compensation Range: $180,000 to $256,000 - this salary range reflects multiple regional locations and job grades. The final compensation offer will be determined during the interview process based on required skills, abilities, and experience. ****We collaborate with third-party firms annually to ensure equity, cash compensation, benefits, and perks align with industry benchmarks. For sales and business development positions, the provided range represents On Target Earnings ("OTE"), which incorporates base salary plus commission/bonus targets for the role.
