Job Summary:

The Finance Associate role at Animoca Brands involves playing a crucial part in developing and expanding a groundbreaking Real-World Asset (RWA) platform that focuses on student loans within the Open Campus project. This position is primarily responsible for underwriting, structuring, and managing student loan deals on-chain to address the student loan challenge through decentralized finance. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in traditional finance, particularly in investment banking or private credit/equity, and should possess strong financial modeling abilities with an interest in Web3 concepts. While a CFA Level 1 qualification is advantageous, it is not mandatory. Key responsibilities include underwriting potential student loan borrowers, structuring loan deals, managing risk, and collections. Additionally, tasks involve creating financial models, preparing investor presentations, conducting financial accounting, and supporting fundraising and portfolio management activities. This position offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of transforming the student loan market using blockchain technology in the education sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate potential student loan borrowers using on-chain data and traditional financial metrics.
  • Structure and execute loan deals specific to the RWA student loan platform.
  • Carry out ongoing risk management, monitoring, and collections activities for the loan portfolio.
  • Develop and refine financial models to facilitate loan underwriting and portfolio analysis.
  • Create investor decks and related documents for stakeholders.
  • Provide support for investor relations and perform financial accounting related to portfolio performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to develop scalable loan and risk management processes.
  • Work with managing partners to identify additional lending, M&A, and investment opportunities in education finance.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a finance associate in a traditional finance environment, showcasing financial modeling expertise.
  • Understanding or keen interest in Web3 and real-world assets, particularly tokenized lending platforms.
  • Strong credit assessment skills and experience in structuring credit or loan deals.
  • Proficiency in investor presentation preparation and financial accounting operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent English communication skills in both written and verbal forms to investment banking standards.
  • Willingness to be located in Hong Kong at the Animoca Brands headquarters.
