We are in search of a seasoned professional at the director level to oversee our Global Tax Operations. This critical role within our accounting team necessitates a deep understanding of international tax landscapes, strategic expertise in tax and transfer pricing, and the management of global tax compliance.
The appointed Global Tax Operations Lead will play a visible role across Anchorage Digital, shaping the global tax strategy and collaborating closely with accounting, finance, and external tax advisors to align with the company's financial goals. The ideal candidate should possess extensive tax leadership experience, preferably within digital assets or fintech, along with a background in public accounting. Adaptability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic setting is imperative.
Technical Skills:
- Manage worldwide GAAP tax provision, tax reserves, and disclosures.
- Oversight of compliance activities for US Federal, US States, and International tax jurisdictions, along with refining processes and enhancing risk management.
- Formulate and execute transfer pricing strategies, oversee related policies, and maintain appropriate documentation.
- Lead Tax Information Reporting, ensuring compliance with digital asset broker tax regulations and issuing relevant documents to clients.
- Evaluate and sustain the support for valuation allowances and the impacts of stock compensation on US and Foreign employees.
- Ensure alignment with US and international tax laws, accounting standards, and other regulatory requirements.
- Supervise indirect tax compliance, assess employment tax matters, and provide guidance in these areas.
Complexity and Impact of Work:
- Develop and steer the tax strategy, addressing tax implications of strategic initiatives and guiding tax-related decision-making processes.
- Offer guidance in business planning to integrate relevant tax considerations effectively.
- Stay updated on evolving tax laws and regulations, ensuring the company remains compliant and competitive.
Communication and Influence:
- Collaborate closely with various teams, including Finance, Legal, Operations, and Product, to support organizational objectives.
- Work in tandem with foreign operations on localized tax issues, contributing to effective tax management.
Candidate Requirements:
- 15+ years of progressive experience, including a minimum of 7 years leading a corporate tax department in a public technology firm.
- Demonstrated performance in a high-growth global organization, with a preference for experience in digital assets or fintech.
- CPA license is mandatory (preferably with experience from a Big 4 accounting firm).
- Proficiency in conveying complex tax matters to non-technical audiences and knowledge in tax accounting, valuation allowances, stock compensation, and international tax structuring.
- Track record of effectively managing concurrent projects and priorities.
- Ability to swiftly align business objectives with tax strategies and foster relationships both internally and externally.
