We are seeking a dedicated accounting professional to join the Prime Brokerage Accounting team at Anchorage Digital. Reporting to the Prime Brokerage Accounting Lead, the chosen candidate will be responsible for preparing various accounting and reporting-related deliverables linked to prime brokerage and digital assets. This role offers an exciting opportunity to navigate the intricacies of accounting for digital assets across unique business products and strategies.
To thrive in this position, proficient technical skills are crucial, including possessing a strong grasp of US GAAP and advanced proficiency in Google Sheets for effective handling of large data sets. It is essential to demonstrate creativity in problem-solving, showcasing versatility in suggesting diverse approaches and swiftly adapting to new scenarios.
The individual selected for this role will be responsible for monthly accounting close duties for brokerage-related legal entities and digital assets, encompassing tasks such as preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and reconciliations for fiat and digital asset accounts held. Providing support for internal and external audits specific to assigned responsibilities and incorporating opportunities for process enhancements and efficiencies are also key parts of the role.
In addition, it is vital to stay updated on industry pronouncements, emerging trends, and advancements in accounting and reporting for digital assets, SEC regulations, and lending practices. This involves actively engaging in training opportunities to acquire relevant knowledge. Collaborating with cross-functional teams like product, brokerage operations, legal, engineering, and FP&A is essential to address outstanding issues, account for new products, and drive process enhancements. Participation in internal and external audits is essential to ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
The ideal candidate should possess at least 5 years of related accounting experience, combining Big 4 public accounting background and/or exposure to a fast-paced startup/Fintech environment. Familiarity with blockchain technology and the crypto economy will be an advantage, along with the ability to excel in a dynamic setting, implement process improvements, work autonomously, and manage multiple tasks concurrently. Experience in accounting for digital assets, prime brokerage services, digital asset borrowing/lending, and/or derivatives is highly desirable.
While not mandatory, applicants with knowledge of writing SQL queries or developing data integrations in Google Sheets/Excel, prior experience at a publicly traded company, familiarity with Netsuite and Floqast, previous remote work experience, and appreciation for the musical soundtrack to "Hamilton" are highly encouraged to apply.
